RETURN
A private 12-week sleep restoration process with Ahna de Vena

A personal invitation
If you’re reading this, you’re likely considering whether RETURN is the right next step for you.
I’ve created this page to give you the complete picture: what we’re working towards, how the process works, what’s included, the investment and what happens when you apply.
Take your time reading through the details. The purpose is to help you make a clear and informed decision.
Ahna
RETURN is a private 12-week process to restore natural, dependable sleep—and return you to the life you’re here to live.
Here’s how it works.
RETURN has one clear goal: to help you reach seven or more hours of high-quality sleep consistently, return to sleep more easily when you wake during the night, and move through your days with reliable energy, clarity and enthusiasm for your life.
We work together across 10 private sessions over 12 weeks, with personal support between sessions.
Although the work is completely tailored to you, it follows my Sleep Restoration Pathway, developed and refined through 22 years of helping people restore their sleep and their lives. This pathway is at the heart of my Holistic Sleep Therapy™ approach.
We begin by understanding the complete picture of your sleeplessness and what is keeping it in place. We then build the foundations for recovery, restore the natural capacities that make sleep possible, and ensure that your sleep becomes dependable and resilient in real life.
The result we’re working towards
By the end of RETURN, the aim is for you to:
- unwind naturally in the evening, without needing substances to help you switch off;
- fall asleep with ease;
- sleep for seven or more hours consistently;
- return to sleep with ease if you wake during the night;
- experience deeper, more restorative sleep;
- wake feeling fresh and clear;
- move through your days with a deep reserve of energy;
- think clearly and meet stress without becoming overwhelmed or depleted;
- understand what your body needs to sleep well;
- know how to respond to a difficult night without fear or spiralling;
- feel confident that sleep is something your body can do naturally; and
- have sleep become a reliable and adaptive part of your life.
This is not about forcing your body to produce perfect sleep every night.
It is about restoring sleep that is natural and dependable—and that can find its rhythm again when life temporarily disrupts it.
The kind of sleep that allows you to wake and, before you’ve even opened your eyes, feel that you’ve been restored. There is energy in reserve. Your mind is clear. The day ahead feels full of possibility instead of something you must struggle through.
Why this matters
Poor sleep impacts your entire life.
When your brain and body have not had the restoration they need, clear thinking becomes more difficult. Small decisions take more effort. Stress is harder to meet. Patience becomes thinner, emotions sit closer to the surface, and relationships can become strained.
You may still be functioning outwardly—working, caring for people and meeting your responsibilities—but doing it with far less of yourself available.
Over time, the effects can reach into your health, your work, your relationships, your confidence, your creativity and your day-to-day enjoyment of being alive. Even the things you care deeply about can feel distant when you don’t have the energy to meet them.
Restoring sleep isn’t only about feeling less tired.
It is about having your mind, energy and inner resources available again—for the people you love, the contribution you want to make, and the life you’re here to live.
Who RETURN is for
RETURN may be right for you if:
- sleep has been difficult for months or years;
- you sleep for too few hours, wake repeatedly, struggle to return to sleep or wake feeling unrefreshed;
- you are functioning, but continually having to push yourself through the day;
- you feel wired but tired—appearing capable on the outside while feeling depleted within;
- you have tried a great deal but still don’t understand what is keeping sleep away;
- anxiety about sleep has become a consistent part of your life;
- you rely on coping strategies that offer temporary relief;
- you want thoughtful, personal guidance rather than another generic collection of sleep tips;
- you have people, work or a larger purpose you want your best energy for;
- you are willing to engage with the process and make practical changes; and
- you want to restore sleep properly, in a way that will benefit you for the rest of your life.
RETURN is not a passive course or a rigid plan to follow alone.
It requires your participation, honest communication and a willingness to try the changes we agree upon together. I only agree to work with people I genuinely believe I can help.
The plan
Phase One: Understand what is keeping sleep away and build the foundations for recovery
We begin with a comprehensive assessment of your sleep, sleep history, physiology, nervous system, environment, daily rhythms, stress patterns, less obvious barriers and current life circumstances.
This gives us a complete picture of what is contributing to the problem, how the different factors connect and what needs attention first.
During this phase, we will:
- establish your current sleep and energy baseline;
- identify the factors maintaining disrupted sleep;
- look closely at the coping strategies that have developed around it;
- optimise your bedroom and broader sleep environment;
- begin restoring your natural body clock;
- introduce practical tools for falling asleep and returning to sleep;
- begin reducing the background pressure in your nervous system;
- give you proven ways to reduce and manage stress during both the day and night; and
- make practical changes that can begin improving your sleep from the outset.
You will also understand the reasons behind what we are doing.
This matters. When sleep has felt mysterious or beyond your control, understanding what is happening can itself bring relief. Changes are also easier to trust and maintain when they make sense.
Phase Two: Restore your natural capacity for quality sleep
Once the foundations are in place, we work more deeply with the patterns that have been keeping your body or mind alert.
This may include:
- reducing your baseline level of stress;
- training your body to move more easily from alertness into rest;
- strengthening your ability to return to sleep after waking, using my Back to Sleep With Ease Method in a way that is adapted to you;
- reducing sleep anxiety, mental looping and the pressure to make sleep happen;
- improving daytime regulation so your nights are naturally calmer;
- replacing coping strategies that are no longer serving you;
- addressing less obvious emotional, physiological or behavioural barriers;
- gently resolving the fear, distress or loss of confidence created by prolonged sleeplessness; and
- rebuilding trust in your body’s ability to sleep.
The precise emphasis depends on you.
No two people arrive with the same sleep history, physiology, nervous system, responsibilities or life circumstances. Some people need more practical sleep retraining. Some need deeper nervous-system or emotional work. Some need more help restoring their body clock.
Most need a thoughtful combination.
Phase Three: Make your sleep resilient in real life
The final phase is about integration, adaptability and independence.
We consolidate what is working and help your sleep remain steady through circumstances that may previously have disrupted it—stress, travel, late nights, demanding work periods, illness, emotional upheaval or an unexpectedly difficult night.
Together, we will:
- strengthen your confidence in sleep;
- create a personal recovery plan for disruptions;
- support steady morning and afternoon energy;
- reduce your reliance on stress, adrenaline or substances to get through the day;
- ensure the changes fit naturally into your actual life; and
- make sure you understand how to maintain and restore your sleep independently.
I welcome the normal ups and downs that occur during this phase.
They give you the opportunity to meet real-life disruptions while you still have my support. Instead of viewing a difficult night, a demanding period or a trip away as evidence that you are back at the beginning, you learn how to respond and recover.
The goal is for you to need less input from me over time and to finish RETURN knowing how to support your own sleep, whatever life brings.
How we measure progress
At the beginning of RETURN, we establish your personal baseline and identify what meaningful recovery would look like for you.
Throughout the process, we track changes in areas such as:
- sleep anxiety;
- the time it takes to fall asleep;
- the number of times you wake during the night;
- the time it takes to return to sleep;
- total hours and quality of sleep;
- morning and afternoon energy;
- general stress levels; and
- enthusiasm for life.
Seeing these changes clearly can be immensely encouraging, particularly when recovery has begun gradually and you have not yet recognised how much has improved.
Tracking also allows us to notice where something needs adjusting and ensures the work is improving both your nights and your days.
What’s included
RETURN includes:
- 10 private one-to-one sessions across 12 weeks;
- two-hour sessions at the beginning, followed by sessions of around 90 minutes as your sleep stabilises and the work becomes more integrated;
- a complete personal sleep and capacity assessment;
- a Sleep Restoration Pathway shaped around your individual needs;
- practical sleep, body-clock and nervous-system guidance;
- supportive follow-up notes after each session, with clear guidance on what to focus on next;
- selected guided recordings, including Falling Asleep with Ease and My Body Knows How to Sleep, to help your system settle and reinforce the changes we are making;
- relevant video and written resources where they support your process;
- regular progress tracking;
- personal support between sessions; and
- a personalised long-term plan for maintaining and restoring your sleep.
Resources are selected because they support your particular recovery. You will not be given a large library of material to work through simply for the sake of it.
Sessions take place online, allowing us to work together wherever you live.
Support and integration between sessions
After each session, you will receive supportive follow-up notes to help you integrate what we have covered and stay clear about your next steps.
At the beginning of RETURN, we will also agree on the most useful way to communicate between sessions. This may be by text, voice note, email or a combination.
You will have access to up to 30 minutes of personal between-session support each week.
This support is there for questions, clarification and help applying the work when something arises in real life. It means we can respond to difficulties while they are happening rather than waiting until the next session.
It also allows you to practise finding your own way back while knowing that guidance is available when you need it.
What everyone receives—and what is personal
Everyone moves through the same essential Sleep Restoration Pathway:
- Understand the complete sleep picture and establish strong foundations for recovery.
- Restore your natural capacity for deep, consistent sleep.
- Integrate the changes so your sleep remains dependable in real life.
What changes is the emphasis, pace and depth of the work.
Your history, physiology, environment, nervous system, relationships, responsibilities and goals determine what receives the most attention and how we move through the process.
Some people need more practical sleep retraining. Some need deeper nervous-system or emotional work. Some need more help restoring their body clock. For others, past experiences or long-held patterns that keep the system alert need gentle attention.
Most people need a thoughtful combination.
My role is to see how the different parts connect and help you work on the right things in the order your system can best respond to them.
A note about medication
RETURN is not a replacement for necessary medical care.
Where prescription medication is involved, I work alongside your prescribing medical professional. Any change to prescribed medication must be approved and supervised by them.
If you hope to reduce or stop sleep medication, the process will depend on the medication, how long you have taken it and the degree of dependence that has developed.
Sleep recovery and medication reduction are related, but they are not the same process. The foundations for sleep need to be established before medication can be reduced safely and in a way that has the best chance of lasting.
This may require a longer period of support and will be discussed with you individually.
Duration and investment
RETURN is designed to take place over 12 weeks and includes 10 private sessions.
If illness, travel or another significant practical issue interrupts the process, we can adjust the schedule by agreement. The purpose is to protect the integrity of the work, not to rush you through it.
The investment is AUD $6,600, paid in full before we begin.
If, towards the end of RETURN, we both believe that more time would support your integration, an additional month may be offered for AUD $2,200.
Extensions are not automatic. They are offered when there is a clear reason that continued private sessions and between-session support would be valuable. We will agree on the focus and structure of the additional month before you decide.
How to apply
Because RETURN is highly personal work, there is a short application and conversation process.
Step One: Tell me what has been happening with your sleep, how it is affecting your life and what you most want to change.
Step Two: I will personally read your application and reply within 48 hours.
If RETURN appears to be a possible fit, I will invite you to a short private conversation and we will choose a suitable time. I may also ask a few further questions before arranging the call.
If I do not believe RETURN is the right or most appropriate form of support for you, I will let you know honestly.
Step Three: We will have a private conversation to understand your situation more fully, answer your questions and sense whether working together feels right for both of us.
This is not a sleep consultation or a pressured sales call. You do not need to make a decision during the conversation.
Step Four: If we both feel that RETURN is the right next step and you would like to proceed, I will send you the payment details and we will arrange your first session.
You do not need to explain your situation perfectly.
Simply tell me what is happening, how it is affecting your life and what you hope will change.
I look forward to hearing from you and learning what restored sleep would make possible in your life.
